     Introduced at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, elongated pennies are a classic, instantly recognizable American souvenir that has spread in popularity around the world. The Copper Camel is pleased to be the first to offer custom elongates specifically designed for the belly dance community. Genuine copper is difficult to find for costuming needs, and the elegant shape and warm color of our coins make for a truly versatile component, a rich addition to your displayed tribal dowry, and an unusual complement for the sparkle of traditional bedlah adornment.
     Trivia goodness---Farida Mazar Spyropoulos, the Syrian dancer famously known as Little Egypt, introduced Americans to "le danse du ventre," or belly dance, at the same World's Fair in which elongated pennies made their debut.
